About Me
I have been a fully qualified counsellor since gaining my Diploma in 2002 and since then have completed a number of studies including a therapeutic groupwork diploma and more recently a diploma in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). In 2017 I gained Bacp accreditation and work closely with that organisation particularly with regards the Ethical framework.
I have worked in a number of professional settings including outreach mental health services and other community based projects.
I am engaged in ongoing professional development and constantly review developments in the field of counselling and therapy.
My practice encompasses an integrative approach that is humanistic in nature and draws on contemporary psychoanalytic theory and Cognitive practice.
I specialise in working with developmental trauma and the issues that result including addictive behaviour. I utilise a Twelve Step understanding with regards addiction work at the heart of which is a spiritual philosophy. This combined with mindfulness body works provides an excellent treatment programme and ongoing recovery model for those in need.
More broadly, I incorporate a holistic understanding of therapy which includes a range of non verbal approaches to illness and wellbeing such as breath work and the mindful movement practice of Yoga and Qi Gong. I also practice Acupressure and am a Reiki master. This approach to healing has been shown to be highly effective and is something that can be tailor made for the individual and is constantly growing and developing.
I am fully insured for working both on line and in person and I am registered with Data Protection (GDPR).
